Those who decide to visit the extraordinary waterfalls on the Zambezi River and the legendary Victoria Falls discovered by David Livingstone, located on the border between the two countries, are spoiled for choice. After years of crisis, due to the political-economic unreliability of Mugabe’s government, there are more encouraging signs today than in the past, that are enough to bring tourists back to what was historically called the “A side” of Victoria Falls. The largest and most spectacular area of the waterfalls, compared to the one in the neighboring Zambia. On the other hand, the persistent uncertainty has made many operators also discover the “B-side” of the magnificent water jet, which spreads over almost 2 kilometers. Livingstone, the city of Zambia located near the falls, offers high quality tourist services. Therefore, competition is fierce.
The flow of the waterfalls varies depending on the time of year. In the rainy season (approximately from February to July) the water flow rate is continuously increasing, so a raincoat is necessary to protect yourself from the steam emitted by the power of the water (especially for your camera). The fog caused by the waterfalls can even be seen many miles away and blurs the view.
In the dry season the visual field is better, but obviously the amount of water is much lower. However, extra openings are made on full moon nights in order to offer a truly unforgettable show.
