Cambodia: A Practical Guide

What to wear

The heat is really suffocating and humid. So, we recommend wearing light, neutral-colored clothing to avoid attracting insects. These areas, in fact, are at risk of malaria.

Transportation

We visited the capital and the temples of Angkor after leaving Vietnam. You can move from one country to another through the river; there are various offers from local tour operators who also provide visas. Read here (link to the delta)

Once in Siem Reap, the excursion to the temples can be made either by car, tuk-tuk, or bike. We opted for the latter due to the possibility of going around at our own pace. The main site is only 6 km far from Siem Reap.

Angkor

We recommend spending at least three days to visit Angkor. Daily admission costs $ 37 and there is also the possibility to buy cumulative tickets. Here you can find some useful information:

Malaria

Cambodia is a country at risk of malaria. We did prophylaxis to minimize risk.

Anti-personnel mines

You have to be very careful if you are around on your own in the Cambodian countryside. Never leave the marked paths. Unfortunately, there is still a large number of anti-personnel mines that still kill or disable a lot of people today, including children.
