Why West Papua – Indonesia

Few places remain etched your heart and mind like West Papua.

It was a big question mark before departure. Not a lot of informations available after digging the web, at least compared to the rest of Indonesia. Yet, the desire to getting to know this largely unexplored to mass tourism part of the country was still strong.

It all started with pictures of the Baliem festival that we found: those men, their proud looks, their painted faces. Then we crossed those same eyes in in person; they were sincere eyes, which can sometimes give the impression of being angry, but if you smile, then they open wide and you won’t be able to forget them.

Papua is not just tribal people or the popular festival. Papua is wild lands, emerald sea, sunsets that paint beaches with gold, smiles on serious faces that will stay in your mind and you cannot delete.
