The ideal time
For most of the year, the weather in Uganda is sunny, with temperatures rarely exceeding 29 degrees. The average temperature is around 26 degrees, with a maximum of 18-35 and a minimum of 8-23, depending on the part of the country. This type of weather is perfect, ranging from the heat of the lowlands to the cool temperatures of the Kigezi highlands in the southwest.
Seasons: Rainy seasons are between March-April and October-November. The dry season is between December-February and between June and August.
How to dress
It is advisable to travel with light and comfortable clothes, such as short and long-sleeved t-shirts for excursions. In the evening, a fleece piece or a jacket are indispensable in some areas such as Bwindi or Bunyonyi Lake. If you plan to take part in the chimpanzees and gorilla excursions, long trekking socks and/or gaiters are necessary in order not to be assaulted by red ants. Uganda is a malarial area, so opt for neutral and not showy colors to avoid attracting insects. As for shoes, sandals are good during travels in cars, and closed-toe or trekking shoes for the planned activities. Also, bring a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
Transportation
By car, probably better if it is a 4×4 vehicle. You will see all kinds of road conditions: paved, uneven, even fords.
Visa
It costs around 50 USD and can be requested directly at Entebbe International Airport.
Vaccinations
Vaccination for yellow fever is recommended.
Malaria can be transmitted especially in the lowest areas, such as Kampala, Lake Victoria, Lake Mburo. Therefore, it is advisable to travel safely with mosquito repellents and long clothes for the evening. Usually, there are anti-mosquito nets in hotels and lodges. FIOr malaria, we used Malarone. In general, travelers are recommended to update their immunization coverage such as tetanus, cholera, hepatitis A, meningitis. However, contact the international vaccinations center closest to you for more information.
