Jordan: A Practical Guide

The best season

Clearly spring or autumn: you won’t suffer the biting cold of winter or the scorching heat of summer. We were there in January and the days, despite cold, were always sunny except for a couple of days. The advantage is that in winter there are far less tourists compared to the high summer season.

What to wear

In winter, we found temperatures ranging from 7 to 15 degrees Celsius. It all depends on the area you visit. The area of Bethany and the Dead Sea is certainly more temperate, as is the Wadi Rum area. Therefore, a sweater and a jacket are highly recommended.

How to get around

If you want to travel in total autonomy, you can easily rent a car, roads are in good conditions and main destinations are always indicated in double Arabic/ English language.

In Jordan, driving requires an international driving license.

Where to stay

There is plenty of hotel choices in the main town. In some other you just need to adapt to what is available, this happened in Karak and Jerash. We only booked for the first night, the rest was decided on the moment. We remind you, however, that our trip did not take place during the high season.

Miscellaneous

For Italian travelers, as well as visitors from most countries, an entry visa is required, which can be directly obtained upon arrival at the airport.
